Jamming with Elliott Sharp (and he was playing through my amp - cool!) June 2022, New Music on the Point

Update coming

Since I updated this, I’ve performed virtually with a laptop ensemble, played sarunay with Susie Ibarra (partially on a boat!), sung Bolcom minicabs to musicians in a mini-cabin, played microtonal electric guitar music written for me by eliot burk (video soon), improvised on electric guitar with Elliott Sharp, spoken a sudoku puzzle (while wearing decorative pink tape) set to music by Jason Treuting, sung with Beth Meyers as part of a large ensemble (including Sō Percussion) performing “Stay on it” by Julius Eastman, and beaten and destroyed a guitar as part of a performance art piece.

I’ll get to the proper update soon.

Singing with Inversion Ensemble

I had the privilege of performing in the bass section of Inversion Ensemble, soundly Austin's most new music-oriented choir. The third of a four-part concert series, Aether:Fire dealt with the "element" of love, passion, and destruction. Presented in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, part of the proceeds went toward a local non-profit dedicated to providing mental health services to residents of central Texas. The music was wide ranging, including several premiers, along with R. Murray Schafer's "Sun,", which was a thrilling treat to perform. Thanks to Robbie LaBanca, Trevor Shaw, and everyone at Inversion Ensemble for inviting me to be a part of your wonderful ensemble!

Creating a role

In November 2019, I created the role of Henry Grimke (Baritone) in the premier of Nell Clowder's new oratorio, A Hundred Times More. It was a treat to sing new music alongside friends old and new, including my dear friend Page Stephens and my voice professor at the University of Texas in Austin, David Small (now at Berklee/Boston and Longy), and I loved getting to know and work with Charissa Memrick and Natalie Howard. For this illuminating experience exploring race and gender through the lenses of slavery, abolition, and suffrage, I am endlessly grateful to all involved.
